Basement Toilet
Adding a basement to your home can also be an extension of the house for either you or all the members of the family. The basement can be used as a living space or a guest bedroom. It can also be used as a makeshift living room or a home office for the telecommuting members of the family. Most of these modifications of the basement into a useful living area would also include the convenience and construction of a toilet in the basement.
Planning a Basement Toilet
Basements are usually used for practical purposes such as storage or added living space. The space may also be used as a recreation or an entertainment area. Adding a toilet to your basement will provide all the convenience and amenities as the rest of your home. While planning the construction of a basement toilet, special care needs to be taken concerning the plumbing, drainage, and sewage requirements. Also the basement area should be adequate enough in size to accommodate a toilet in the basement. Because basement are problem areas when it comes to odors, basement toilets must be planned in such a manner so as not to raise a stink in the future once they are actually constructed and in use.
Basement Toilet Installation Costs
The basement toilet installation costs include money spent on materials such as the concrete, tiles, sealants, pumps, pipes, drainage ducts, and other items required to complete the project. Hiring a professional to do the installation may also add to the costs. The toilet units to be added to the basement area are available in a range of prices depending upon certain specifications in design. Any renovation or modification due to the addition of a toilet in the basement can also add to the costs. Calculating costs is also important when planning the project.
Installing a Basement Toilet
A basement toilet can be installed either by professional builders or plumbers who are the experts at installing proper drainage and sewage units. The project can also be undertaken as a do-it-yourself task, however, a professional’s services are highly recommended for the job. Professional may be able to foresee future problems with the use of the basement toilet, and may offer advice or modify the unit used in the basement accordingly.
